New Clark City athletics stadium nominated again at World Architecture Festival

The New Clark City Track and Field Stadium (NCC) has been nominated again for the World Architecture Festival (WAF).

In a statement, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) said the accredited sports stadium is in the running for the prestigious festival’s engineering award.

The festival had previously included the sports stadium in the shortlist of buildings completed for the sport last July.

BCDA President and CEO Vince Dizon congratulated MTD Philippines, BCDA’s development partner in New Clark City, and architectural consultant Budji + Royal Architecture + Design for providing world-class sports facilities.

“That the NCC athletic stadium is recognized at such a high standard not only for its architectural brilliance, but also for its structural quality, is a nod to the thousands of engineers, designers and workers who have completed this installation in no time. , said Dizon.

The NCC Athletics Stadium is the first major sports center built by the government since the completion of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in 1934, according to the BCDA.

The stadium served as the venue for the 30th Southeast Asian Games in 2019 with a seating capacity of 20,000, a 400-meter nine-lane athletics track and another four-lane warm-up track.

It was also named earlier as one of the top 10 stadiums in the world at the annual Stadium of the Year awards.

The WAF will take place at the FIL Exhibition Center in Lisbon, Portugal from December 1-3. – LA, GMA News
