Here’s what’s happening in Palm Beach this season


Cojimar, an Ernest Hemingway-inspired restaurant opens on the Worth Avenue esplanade, transporting diners to the Cuban seaside town, the tortured bard declared his “happiest place” and where he wrote The old Man and the Sea. An ode to the author’s romance with food, art, scotch and fine wines, the restaurant’s Mediterranean and Cuban-French influenced menu is presented in a lush outdoor setting consisting of a covered flowered courtyard vines and a serpentine mosaic staircase, while inside, the ocean blues, sunset golds and painted tiles frame historic photos of Cojimar, Hemingway and his relaxed life in the Cuban city.

Also on the Esplanade, a brand dedicated to women Unsubscribed opens its first outpost outside Connecticut and New York, with private label collections and vintage and recycled products residing on reclaimed red oak wood shelves. Amid vintage Turkish rugs and an antique Italian marble table, shoppers will find unique pieces by Jessica Biales dotted between designs by Kerri Rosenthal (available only at Palm Beach and East Hampton stores), handcrafted brand LemLem, third- party brands and an extensive collection of swimwear and evening wear in a luxurious beach house ambience.

Palm Beach does not do après-ski, they After the beach on Sundays in custom cabanas at the Royal Poinciana Plaza, in a stage featuring fashion illustrations, a photographer, bags of loot and a spinning DJ. Only eight cabins are available for $ 350 each for up to six people from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., outfitted by one of the shops in the mall – think LoveShackFancy, Alice + Olivia, Love Brand & Co. and Orlebar Brown. Sant Ambroeus offers truffle fries, paninis, assorted delicacies and bubbles. The November cabins sold out within days.

If you weren’t the highest bidder on Frida Kahlo’s self-portrait recently sold at Sotheby’s for a record $ 34.9 million, go to Norton Museum of Art for “Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Mexican Modernism” from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman collection, with more than 150 pieces alongside photographs and period clothing. Stay for lunch at the restaurant and feast on the inventive Mexican Modernism cuisine that chef Jair Solis created to coincide with the exhibition’s limited engagement. The restaurant stays open late Friday for Art After Dark. Admission to the museum is not compulsory.
